The 20th death anniversary of Justice Muhammad Ansar Ali, a renowned lawyer and experienced Justice of Bangladesh Supreme Court will be observed today. On this day in 1995 he passed away while on duty for hearing the cases, for the dispension of justices.
Ansar started his legal profession in the year of 1962 at Dhaka High Court and in 1968 at Pakistan Supreme Court. He was elected senior Vice-President of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association and was also elected twice as the President of the then Rangpur High Court Bar Association.
He was imprisoned in 1952 for his participation in the Language Movement. He was awarded posthumous “Matribhasha Padak 2001” for his role in the language movement. He was a freedom fighter in the Liberation War of 1971.
Discussions, Qurankhwani and Doa Mahfil will be held at his village home in Naogaon district and also at Banani Graveyard in the city to mark the day.
