Today is the 11th death anniversary of freedom fighter and politician Advocate Badiul Alam. He was born in Fatnagar village in the Chandonashi thana to the Sikder family in 1926. He did his undergraduate degree from Calcutta University in 1946 and then followed it up with a LLB from Dhaka University. During the liberation war in Chottogram he was an Awami League regional president and also later took on the responsibility of the Socialist Party Chottorgram south division president. After the liberation war in 1972 he became president of the Lawyers’ Association Vice-President and in 1981 became the President of the association. He was also on the committees for the “Bangladesh Red Crescent Society”. He helped to set up the Fatnagar Sharifunessa Nazir Uddin Girls’ High School, a primary school, a madrasa and a knowledge center library in his own village. To mark his death anniversary, Fatnagar Sharifunnessa Nazir Uddin Girls’ High School management committee has arranged a ‘Doa Mahfil’ at the school premises today.All the relatives, friends and well-wishers of the deceased are requested to attend the Doa Mahfil and pray for the salvation of the departed soul.
