Islamic spiritual hub of Maizbhandar Darbar on the outskirts of the port city observed overnight the 11th anniversary of demise (urs) of great sufi saint Syed Moinuddin Ahmed on Thursday, staging special prayers and discussions recalling his lifelong mission to promote peace and inclusiveness.
Tens of thousands of people thronged the darbar to join the “urs” while discussants recalled that Syed Moinuddin drew respect and appreciation of all irrespective of their religious faiths and social strata with his charming personality, soothing behavour, messages of inclusiveness and love for all.
“For over two centuries the spirituals figures of the Maizbhandar Darbar played the pioneering role in preaching the inner essence of Islam and inclusive ideals of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the region,” incumbent leader of the Maizbhandar Darbar Syed Saifuddin Ahmed while chairing the discussion, reports BSS.
He added: “Shah Sufi Syed Moinddin Ahmed dedicated his entire life to uphold the same spirit and spread it in international level and remained as the symbol of Sufi ideals.”
The Darbar, he said, all through was regarded as the centre of spiritual refuge of all in agonies, distress and oppression while it taught the wealthier devotees to stood by the people in miseries with their spiritual and worldly resources.
Syed Saifuddin said the inclusive Maizbhandar philosophy always negated religious extremism or excesses and urged the religious leaders to be cautious so their writings or speeches do not provoke any kind of hatred.
The two-day ‘Urs’ was wrapped up with the nightlong prayers while devotees from across the country also took part in special milad mahfils and discussions.
Syed Saifuddin led the concluding prayers seeking global peace, interfaith harmony, and progress of the country and unity of the Muslim Ummah.
