Death anniv of Sagar-Runi today

The third death anniversary of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar, News Editor of the private TV station Maasranga, and Meherun Runi, Senior Reporter of ATN Bangla, will be observed today (Wednesday).
They were killed at their rented flat in the capital’s West Rajabazar in the early hours of February 11, 2012. Their only son Mahir Sarowar Megh, then 5, was there at that time.
The both groups of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), and Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU)
will organize different programmes including protest rally and human chain.
Pro-Awami League group of BFUJ and DUJ will organize a discussion in the National Press Club Auditorium at 11am.
The leaders of the ogranisations will submit a memorandum to the Home Minister demanding arrest and punishment to the killers of Sagar-Runi.
Pro-BNP group of BFUJ and DUJ will organize a protest rally to observe the 3rd death anniversary of the journalist couple at the National Press Club premises at 11am.
DRU will also arrange a human chain in front of the DRU at 12pm.
It may be mentioned that after Sagar and Runi were found dead in their apartment. The then Home Minister Sahara Khatun announced that the killers would be arrested within 48 hours. But there was in truth no progress.
