Chattogram Bureau :
The 16th death anniversary of Engineer S M A Bari, the father of president of Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) and Chittagong Bureau Chief of The Bangladesh Post Nazimuddin Shyamol observed on Friday .
Late Engineer S M A Bari was born in 1938 at his village Shafinagar under Hathazari upaziola in Chattogram. His father was late Sayed Mohammed Abdul Aziz Chowdhury and mother was Anjoma Khatoon. He obtained his graduation from Ahasanullah Engineering Academy.
He was an activist of Bengali Language movement in 1952. Police arrested S M A Bari for his involvement with language movement on 22 February in 1952. He was also an organiser of the freedom fight in 1971 in Chattogram. He was also detained by Pakistani Army during liberation war in 1971. Later, he could manage to escape from camp of Pakistani Army at that time.
Milad Mahafil, Quaran Khani and jiarat was arranged to observe death anniv.
