A discussion meeting in observance of the 25th death anniversary of the noted journalist and founder editor of Dainik Nayabangla Abdullah al Sagir was held on March 29 last at its momin road office premises with Journalist SM Jamaluddin in the chair . Abdullah Al Sagir was also the former President of Chittagong Press Club .
Among others, newly elected vice president of BFUJ Shahidul Alam, Chairman of Chittagong Journalists Housing Society Ltd Moinuddin Quaderi showkat, Editor of Dainik Nayabangla ZM Enayetullah Hiro were present in it as honourable guests duly conducted by Journalist Md. Nazimuddin .
Among others MA Sobhan, Executive Editor of Dainik Nayabangla Enamul Kader Tipu, Online journalist MK Mobin, vice president of Pathak samity Alhaj Zahirul Hoque, Hasan Mukul, politician Swapan sen, Sjal das, Shamal Nath, Milan Barua, Noor Mohd Putu, Khorshed Alam, Mahmudul Hoque Ansari, BM Ehsanul Quader, and Moulana Shafique Ullah spoke on the occasion.
The speakers in the rally recollected the contributionof noted journalist Abdullah al Sagir . President of the meet in his brief deliverations said Sagir shaheb was a man of honesty and responsibility and was a father of the new generations of journalism in the country.
He also called upon the community to follow the path of Sagir Saheb . A doa mahfil and milad was arranged at Shahi Jame Mosque after Asar prayer and prayed salvation of the departed soul . Pesh Imam of Jame Mosque Mufti Moulana Sadeque conducted munajat following the doa mahfil and milad,s sources said. Khatme Quran and Ziarat at the grave of the demise was held at village home in Garduara village under Hathazari thana , sources said.
