The 12th death anniversary of Novera Deepita, a journalist of The Daily Star and a gold-medalist student of Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University, will be observed today.
“Novera Deepita Memorial Trust” has taken elaborate programmes marking the day.
The Trust will award “Novera Deepita Memorial Scholarship” to the student achieving the highest marks in BA (hons) examinations under the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University. The recipient will receive Taka 25,000 and a certificate. Other programmes arranged by the Trust include praying at her grave in Azimpur graveyard at dawn, donation in orphanages and a milad mehfil. A book in her memory titled, ‘Novera Nirupoma Deepita Deepannita’, edited by her mother Adila Bakul, was published in December, 2015. She passed away on July 27, 2006. She is survived by her mother, brothers, sister and hosts of friends and well-wishers.
