The 11th death anniversary of former education minister ASHK Sadek was observed at his birthplace Keshabpur in Jashore yesterday.
To mark the death anniversary, a meeting and a Doa Mahfil was held.
Food items were distributed among the destitute of the area on the Day.
Wife of Sadek and State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadek attended the programmes.
The minister along with local Awami League leaders placed wreaths to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and ASHK Sadek at party’s Keshabpur office. Born on April 30 in 1934 at Kebshabpur in Jashore .
Sadek achieved MA Degree in Economics from Calcutta University in 1955.
He joined in Pakistan Civil Service in 1956 and retired in 1988. In the long career, he performed duties of principal secretary to President and secretaries of various ministries.
He involved in active politics by joining in Awami League in 1992 and was an advisory council member of the party.
Sadek was a Member of Parliament from Jashore-6 constituency in the 1996 and 2001.
He was the education minister of the AL-led government between 1996 and 2001.
