The 46th death anniversary of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad would be observed in Narail today in a befitting manner.
District administration have chalked out elaborates programme to observe his death anniversary. The programmes will begin with Qurankhwani at his village home at 7 am. Doa Mahfil and placing floral wreaths at his memorial will also be held on the occasion.
He will be given a guard of honour, said Deputy Commissioner of Narail Md Helal Mahmud Sharif.
Nur Mohammad joined the then East Pakistan Rifles (EPR), now Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), on February 26, 1959.
Later, he joined the Liberation War in 1971. He was killed in an engagement with the Pakistan Army while providing fire for covering the extrication of fellow freedom fighters at Goalhati in Jessore district on 5 September 1971.
