The 45th death anniversary of Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman was observed at the village of the martyred on Friday with due respect.
Jointly arranged by Moheshpur Upazila Administration and Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman Degree College, a prayer session (milad Mahfil) and discussion meeting was held at Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman Memorial museum in the morning of Friday.
Jhenaidah-3 constitution lawmaker Nabi Newaz attended the programme as Chief Guest, while Deputy Commissioner Mahbub Alam Takulder, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ashafur Rahman and Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Moheshpur Upazila Unit Abdul Malek attended as special guests.
SBK union parishad chairman Arifan Hasan Chowdhury, Hamidur Rahman’s younger brother Fazlur Rahman among others spoke on the discussion.
The speakers discussed on the life and sacrifice of the heroic son during the liberation war in 1971 against the occupying Pakistani soldiers and urged upon the locals to express the exact history among the visitors, students and locals on the liberation movement.

They shouted that a vested corner has been trying to demoralize the theme of the independence motivating and leading the innocent people.
The lawmaker and the deputy commissioner during the discussion meeting had assured of talking necessary effective measures renaming the village of the Bir Shreshtha as “Hamidnagar” after the name of Hamidur Rahman. Earlier the guests and locals offered floral wreaths at the portrait of the Bir Shreshtha.
Hamidur Rahman, son of Kaisunnessa of Khorda Khalishpur village of bordering Moheshpur upazila was killed by the occupying Pakistani soldiers at Dholai frontier of Maulavibazer during a fierce gunfight on October 28 in 1971.
