The second death anniversary of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) former Mayor Annisul Huq was observed on Saturday.
Different socio-political and business organizations undertook a number of programme, including Doa-mahfil, and food distribution among the destitute on the occasion.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam and leaders of other organizations placed wreaths at his grave in the capital’s Banani graveyard.
A special prayer was arranged by the late mayor’s family members at Gulshan Azad Mosque seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Annisul Huq. Annisul, breathed his last in a London hospital on November 30 2017 at the age of 65.
He was buried at Banani graveyard on December 2 in 2017, according to media reports. Annisul Huq took oath as the DNCC Mayor on May 6, 2015.
The popular leader was born on 27 October 1952 at Sonapur village under Sonagazi upazila in Noakhali district. He had his own business, named Mohammadi Group.
He held the posts of president of several apex bodies namely South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Federation of the Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Independent Power Producers Association.
