A fierce bowling spell by Deandra Dottin saw West Indies (WI) eve team to make positive start in the Women’s ICC World T20 beating England eve cricket team by nine runs in their opening match held on Monday at the Sylhet Stadium.
Put to bat first, West Indies rode on Stafanie Taylor’s brilliant 56 runs, scored a healthy total of 133 for 7 from their allotted 20 overs. Medium pacer Natalie Sciver was the most successful bowler for England taking three wickets for 18 runs.
In reply, England found the chase stiff in the face of disciplined bowling attacks by Caribbean bowlers and restricted at 124 for 9 from their stipulated 20 overs with English captain Charlotte Edwards top scored 44 runs.
Deandra Dottin caused the major damage for England taking four wickets giving away 12 runs.
