The woman, who was declared dead and later found alive at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), finally breathed her last on Friday afternoon.
DMCH Director Brigadier General Mostafizur Rahman confirmed it to the reporters and said that the doctors declared her dead after examining her ultra-sonogram, X-ray and ECG reports only.
On Friday morning, DMCH authorities formed
a four-member probe team in connection with the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon.
After visiting Ward No-802 of Unit-7 where she was undergoing treatment in the morning, Mostafizur Rahman regretted for the unexpected incident.
The team headed by Medicine Department Professor Dr Enamul Karim has been asked to submit the investigation report within three working days, he said, adding that legal action would be taken against the on-duty doctors if any fault was found in providing treatment to her.
On December 4, some doctors, including Dr Nilufa Nila, declared her dead and issued a death certificate.
Ward Boy Belal went to the hospital morgue with the certificate. After accepting it, the on-duty officer Nure Alam Babu asked another employee Aziz to take the body. And Babu was preparing to conduct an autopsy.
When Aziz and Belal were trying to pick her up from bed, she began to move her legs and hands.
Seeing this mysterious happening, they became fear and called the doctors.
Later, the physicians found her alive. On December 2, she was picked up from the footpath adjacent to the DMCH and administered medicine as per reference of its director.
Dr Nilufa Nila told the media that they declared her dead, when they could not feel her pulse.
Her heart and other organs were not working then, the physician described.
The woman, 45, name could not be ascertained, was suffering from serious malnutrition.
