An unidentified 45-year-old man was hit by a train near Pithagauri Railway Bridge in Pithal Union of Gafargaon Upazila on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Railway at around 1pm on Thursday.
Day and night followed, but neither the railway police nor the locals came forward to rescue the body. The locals become angry at the negligence of the railway police. The body of the unidentified man was lying on the side of the railway line for 9 hours after the accident. Later, it was recovered by Gafargaon Railway GRP police after 10 pm on Thursday.
Amanullah Abdullah, a local resident, expressed his displeasure and said, “This is the railway police.” A middle-aged unidentified man died in a train accident at around 1pm. But the railway police came to rescue the body after about 9 hours.
Gafargaon GRP Fari in-charge Shahidullah Hiro said the unidentified man was killed when he was hit by a train leaving Dhaka for Tarakanda. The deceased has not been identified yet.
Asked why it was day and night when the body was recovered, the GRP Fari in-charge said, “I received the news of the body lying around at 5 o’clock.”
