DCCs to clear cattle waste within 48 hrs from Eid day

The two Dhaka City Corporations will clear the cattle waste within 48 hours starting from 2 PM on the Eid day.
Additional cleaners, vehicles and equipment have been posted for the purpose.
The Corporations will provide some other facilities like medicine spray to remove stink and insects one day prior to the Eid-ul-Azha, according to the Corporations.
But the city’s temporary cattle markets have already taken a filthy look with huge animal waste and wasted straw.
Most cattle traders brought animals in the markets three to four days ago.
The Kamrangichar and Delwar Hossain Playground markets are bumming with flies and mosquitoes. The traders are also suffering from the same menace. Heaps of animal waste and wasted straw are seen all through the markets.
Some traders told The New Nation, they cannot save themselves and their cattle from sting of the insects, with a bad smell add untold sufferings.
If it rains, the suffering will increase, they added. In response to a question, they said, they went there three days ago upon arrival of excessive cattle. The dwellers and commuters are victims of stink and insects.
Some senior officers of the two Corporations seeking anonymity said, they have nothing to do in this connection.
According to the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), it will launch its special waste management work from near Ladies Club at 2 O’clock.
Some 9,200 cleaners and labourers, 137 additional trucks, 57 apparatus and water vehicles, 50 containers and 520 new hand operated transports will be engaged in cleaning.
Some 2400 workers and 600 vans of PCSP will collect waste from residences.
Besides, the DSCC will create awareness among people using five vehicles and through media one day before the Eid. It will spray medicine to remove insects and bad smell, and distribute water free.
