DCCI urges for more Chinese investment in BD

DCCI President Hossain Khaled urged the visiting Chinese entrepreneurs to find out right partner for joint ventures in Bangladesh to reduce trade gap between the countries, said a press release.
A 14-member trade delegation from Yunnan Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, China visited Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) and had a meeting with its Board of Directors and members on Monday at DCCI auditorium.
He said infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, real-estate, leather, tourism, ship-building, ICT, RMG are some of the major sectors of billion dollar investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
He invited the Chinese businessmen to grab this billion dollar opportunity. He also said in the FY 2014-15, Bangladesh exported goods to China worth of $791 million whereas we imported goods from China worth of $8232 million which shows a manifold trade gap between Bangladesh and China exists.
He also urged the Chinese investors to invest in our power sector as Bangladesh has a target to generate 24,000 mega watt of electricity by the year 2021. Hossain Khaled said in order to boost bilateral trade, Chamber to Chamber cooperation, exchange of trade delegation, bilateral cooperation and market research are important.
Yu Dingcheng said Bangladesh is an emerging country especially for investment. He said Chinese entrepreneurs are already in Bangladesh and more Chinese companies are willing to invest in Bangladesh. “We are interested to explore potential investment opportunity of medical industry, pharmaceuticals, real-estate and building materials sector in Bangladesh”, said Yu Dingcheng.
He further said Bangladeshi and Chinese entrepreneurs could jointly arrange a product exhibition either in Bangladesh or in China to promote exportables of both sides. He also said real-estate of Yunnan is a billion dollar sector in China. He invited Bangladeshi realtors to invest in Yunnan’s real-estate sector.
DCCI Senior Vice President Humayun Rashid, Vice President Kh. Atique-e-Rabbani, FCA, Directors AKD Khair Mohammad Khan, Asif A Chowdhury, Md. Alauddin Malik, Mamun Akbar, Salim Akhtar Khan, Kamrul Islam, FCA and former Senior Vice President Alhaj Abdus Salam were also present during the meeting.
