Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) urged the Vietnamese entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh.
DCCI President Abul Kasem Khan made the request as Vietnamese Ambassador Tran Van Khoa met him at DCCI on Thursday, said a press release.
Mentioning the existing friendly bilateral trade relations between Vietnam and Bangladesh, Khan said Bangladesh government encourages Vietnamese entrepreneurs to invest in joint ventures in manufacturing electrical and electronic products.
He also invited Vietnam’s businessmen to invest in other potential sectors enjoying various incentives offered by the government.
Kasem urged the Ambassador to make joint efforts to explore business opportunity in agriculture and fisheries sector of Bangladesh. “Joint business and economic forum at the government level will boost bilateral trade.”
He said DCCI will send a business delegation to Vietnam in the middle of March this year.
Bilateral trade volume between Bangladesh and Vietnam crossed $ 900 million in 2017 but did not yet reach the targeted $ 1 billion. As compared to the previous year, the trade volume increased 50-60 percent in 2017, although the bilateral trade is still in favor of Vietnam.
Tran Van Khoa said an exchange of trade delegations will usher in a new horizon of business interaction between the entrepreneurs of the two countries.
To mark the 45th year of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Bangladesh, a trade fair will be organized in Bangladesh this year by the Vietnam government, he said.
The ambassador said Bangladesh needs to upgrade its infrastructure sector, especially the port facilities with utmost priority.
