Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has urged the government to launch a probe into the fire that broke out at Dhaka North City Corporation Market at Gulshan on Tuesday to know the exact reasons. In a statement, the trade body said hundreds of shops were gutted in the
fire and the shop owners incurred huge financial losses. It also expressed its deep sympathy at the fire incident. The DCCI called upon the government to facilitate and support the affected businessmen so that they could start their businesses soon and recover their losses. Besides, it underscored the need of enhancing fire safety measures at all markets and shopping malls in the country to prevent such untoward incident in future.
