DCC polls campaign getting momentum

One day after getting electoral symbols, the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election campaign has got momentum as the both Awami League (AL) and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidates moving for support from their local key leaders.

All the mayor and councilor candidates are passing very busy days and meeting the voters irrespective of age, sex and creed and cast with posters and leaflets to drum up support for them from early morning to mid night.
Witnesses said both the AL and the BNP mayor candidates, along with their supporters, were going from door-to-door to woo voters with promises of building a modern city, if elected.
Awami League’s tow mayor candidates Atiqul Islam and Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh started their campaign from Friday.
BNP’s Dhaka North candidate Tabith Awwal and South city candidate Ishraque Hossain started their campaign flanked by senior party leaders like Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and National Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas.
Meanwhile, Awami League Mayor candidate for the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh visited the house of Ishraque Hossain, the BNP candidate on Saturday.
Taposh visited the house located on the RK Mission Road in Gopibagh area in the capital on Saturday morning and sought vote for him.
After visiting the house, Taposh said that the politics of harmony will prevail in Dhaka from now on as development is only possible if co-ordination and co-operation exist among people in the society.
On the other hand, BNP’s Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor candidate Ishraque Hossain warned if the attempt is made to use the administration to determine the result of the election, the toothless response will be given.
He said it during his campaign in front of Kamlapur Railway Station on Saturday afternoon.
BNP mayor candidate Tabith Mohammad Awal said during his campaign at the capital’s Uttara on Saturday, “Residents of Dhaka city are waiting to clapback during the upcoming Dhaka City polls for being deprived of their voting rights in 11th National Election.”
He said, “The government keeps talking about development, which is vain in reality.”
Al Mayor candidate Atiqul Islam said during his campaign at the capital’s Mirpur on Saturday, he wants to continue the work he started during his nine months in office if re-elected as Dhaka North City Corporation mayor. He believes the short experience has made him ready for the job as Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina also put trust in him.
