DC Gold Cup Football Tournament-2015 began here at Osmany stadium on Monday afternoon.
Organized by Narayanganj district sports association, the tournament was inaugurated by Dhaka divisional commissioner Zillar Rahman as the chief guest while president of Narayanganj district sports association and Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman Miah in the chair.
The chief guest said that at least eleven new playgrounds have been recovered from the illegal occupation here. He urged the sports lover to use the playground to promote sports and games in Narayanganj with the assistance of district administration.
A total of six teams from five upazilas including Narayanginj district football association are participating in the tournament.
The teams are: Araihazar Upazila, Narayanganj Sadar Upazila, Sonargao Upazila, Rupganj Upazila and Bandar Upazila.
In the opening match Rupganj upazila beat Araihazer upazila by a solitary goal in the 15 minutes of the second half by a Nigerian player Sagu of Rupganj upazila. Six foreign players are took part in the tournament.
The final match will be held on January 3.
