A 15-year-old girl, Ishrat Zahan Eeti, has served as the deputy commissioner of Kurigram for a day, taking charge of the district on the occasion of International Day of Girl Child.
Kurigram Deputy Commissioner Rezaul Karim handed over the charges to Eeti, daughter of Yunus Ali of Harikesh village in Kurigram municipality, on Monday morning.

The takeover is a part of the global #GirlsTakeover, a signature activity of Plan International.
Every year, the international development organisation rolls on this activity all over the world, including Bangladesh, marking the International Day of Girls on October 11 under its Girls Get Equal campaign calling for increased investment in girls’ power, activism and leadership.
A private organization, Yes Bangladesh, organized the program with the help of Aporajeo Bangladesh, Youth for change and local administration.

After taking charge, Eeti made a proposal saying to take effective steps in preventing child marriage and child torture in the district. Following her request, the deputy commissioner assured Eeti of taking steps to implement the issue.
