DBBL, Trust Bank to receive NID service charges

People can now pay charges of the national identity (NID) card-related services, including correction and recollection, through Dutch-Bangla Bank and Trust Bank.
The Election Commission on Thursday signed agreements with the two banks at the EC Secretariat in this regard. As per the agreements, service seekers can pay the NID service charges through both online and mobile banking channels of the two banks. People will be able to pay the charges using their ATM cards as well. The two banks will charge Tk 6 including VAT as bank service charge each time.
Now, the service receivers can pay the charges to the Code No 1-0601-0001-1847 through
treasury voucher from any treasury branch of Sonali Bank and all branches of Bangladesh Bank or send the charges through pay order or bank draft from any bank to the EC Secretary.
To avail the NID services, people need to submit the forms with supportive documents and payment slip of the charges to the EC Upazila and Thana offices across the country.
Addressing the agreement signing ceremony, EC Secretary Sirazul Islam said the NID service will be easier as the people can pay the charges even using mobile phone of the mobile banking of the banks.
The commission signed the agreements with the two banks as Sonali Bank charges at least Tk 23 for every payment. The two banks will charge only Tk 6, he said.
Against the NID service charges that took effect on September 1, some Tk 19 lakh was collected from 16,429 service receivers as of Thursday, the EC secretary said. Deputy Managing Director of Dutch-Bangla Bank Abul Kashem Md Shirin said Dutch-Bangla Bank has 120,000 agents and 55 lakh clients of its mobile banking. So, people will pay the charges through the agents and mobile phone of the clients as well.
EC Additional Secretary Mokhlesur Rahman, Director General of the National Identity Registration Wing Brig Gen Sultanuzzaman Md Saleh Uddin and Senior Executive Vice-Principal of Trust Bank SM Akram also spoke on the occasion.
