Dutch Bangla Bank Limited’s (DBBL) mobile banking service Rocket will be the title sponsor for the upcoming cricket series between Bangladesh and Australia.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) made the official declaration at a press conference at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur, on Thursday.
The series will be titled as Rocket Bangladesh -Australia Test series 2017.
BCB CEO, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, Shamsul Arefin of Impress Matra Consortium and Abul Kashem Mohammad Shirin, the managing director of Dutch-Bangla Bank were also present on the occasion.
Rocket sponsored the Bangladesh-Afghanistan series last year before it rocketed into the local market.
Nizamuddin Chowdhury thanked Dutch Bangla Bank as the partners of development. “DBBL has been involved with cricket from very first Test of the country, they have made significant contributions in the development process of cricket, we thank them and believe the bonding will be a continued process” said Nizamuddin.
Abul Kashem M Shirin, however, said the country has been plagued by the flood but still then the series has to be run. “We don’t have any options to defer the series though the scenario is a little gloomy, the country has been effected by the flood, we feel the plight of the people and hope the scenario will improve, we hope the best for the people as well as the Bangladesh cricket team” said Shirin.
The first test of the Rocket series will start at Dhaka from August 27 and the second Test will be held at the port city of Chittagong from September 4.
BCB has awarded its title sponsorship and In-Stadia sponsorship rights to Impress Matra Consortium for a period of two years which is effect from September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2018.
