DB to send samples for retesting liquid cocaine

Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan police yesterday collected samples from the contents of seized 107 drums of edible oil mixed with liquid cocaine at Chittagong Port for retesting.
The investigation team led by Kusum Dewan, Deputy Commissioner of DB said they collected ingredients from 107 drums and they will send those to Dhaka for retesting in three laboratories at the directive of the court. Representatives from four organizations including Chittagong port, Customs were present while samples were collected at 11 am.
The Custom Intelligence based on intelligence report sealed off 107 drums of sunflower oil at NCT yard of the port on June 7. Existence of liquid cocaine has been found in barrels of edible oil, seized from a container at Chittagong Port, after their contents were retested in the laboratory of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) and Bangladesh Drug Testing Laboratory (BDTL).
Earlier, law enforcers arrested four persons-Atiqur Rahman, Commercial executives of Mondol Group in Dhaka, A K Azad, Manager Cosco Bangladesh Shipping Lines limited and Mostafa Kamal, official of a development company and Golam Mostafa Sohel , manager of Khanjahan Ali enterprise at Khatungonj for their alleged involvement in brining cocaine with sunflower oil.
A 10 member investigation team with Kusum Dewan at the top was formed for quizzing the detainees.
