DB snatches money, beat a trader in Khulna

Some members of Detective Branch (DB) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) allegedly snatched money from a trader and beat him mercilessly on Sunday at Khalishpur area under Khalishpur police station in the city.
 The victim Sheikh Takdir Hossain Babu alleged this at a press conference held at Khulna Press Club on Monday evening.
In a written statement, Sheikh Takdir Hossain Babu alleged that some DB policemen of KMP called him from his residence and took away him at Khalishpur office of DB while he was beaten mercilessly and snatched taka two lakh from his bag, they also looted gold ornaments from Babu.
It is also stated in the allegation that One Rana, tenant to Babu took loan from Brac Bank and Babu was the guarantor of the loan. Rana did not repay the loan and as such The Bank took the motorcycle of Rana. Being aggrieved with this incident, Rana threatened Babu.
Takdir Hossain Babu also alleged during the press conference that DB SI Bahauddin called Babu over phone to DB office at Khalishpur where Babu saw Rana sitting with DB menbers. However, Babu at once informed the matter to AC, DB Md. Kamrul Islam who did not pay any heed to the allegation of Babu and he went out of the office.
Thereafter, DB SI Bahauddin rebuked Babu in slag language saying him ‘Brother-in-law’, then DB constables Shahabul and Provash dragged Babu and beat mercilessly and snatched taka two lakh and gold ornaments from Babu. They also threatened him of crossfire.
Takdir Hossain Babu went to file a case to Khalishpur police station but OC Amir Taymur Ellie did not take the case as in the allegation there were name of three DB policemen(One SI and two constables). Without getting any other alternative, Babu planned to file te case in the court.
Md. Kamrul Islam, assistant commissioner (AC) of KMP’s Detective Branch said, “Babu came with an allegation, but I learned later that it was feud of monetary matter, so I advised him to minimize the matter.”
