DB police arrest 3 with about 3kg gold

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Detective Ramna Division has arrested three people on charges of involvement in stealing two bhories of ornament gold ornament at Karnaphuli Garden City Shopping Complex in Kakrail area of the capital.
The suspects have been dentified as Shahid Matabbar alias Shahin, Shaishab Roy alias Sumon and Uttam Kumar Sur.
At that time, 221 bhories of gold ornaments were recovered from their possession.
A team of Detectives of Ramna zone arrested Shahin from Nagarkanda in Faridpur district on Sunday (December 27) and Sumon and Uttam were arrested from Barishal district and Shakhari Bazar of Kotwali Police Station of the capital respectively on Monday based on the information provided by Shahin.
DB Additional Commissioner of Police AKM Hafeez Akhter passed the remarks at a press conference held at DMP Media Center on Tuesday (December 26) at noon.
On December 18, two jewellery shops were looted by unidentified miscreants in the early hours. The shops – Mohona Jewellers and Jewel Avenue Jewellers -on the third floor of the shopping mall were robbed of.
A case was filed at Ramna Model Police Station in this regard. Detective Ramna Division started shadow investigation into the case. He added that during the preliminary interrogation, the detainees confessed to being directly involved with the theft.
They said some gold fell on the road while carrying stolen gold. If anyone has found any such gold, the DB officer urged them to deposit it to the nearest police station.
Requesting the people, the DB official said, not to buy or sell the stolen gold, if any of the stolen gold was found during the investigation of the case, legal action would be taken against them for keeping the stolen goods.
