Yaba smuggling: DB OC closed: 10 cops transferred

UNB, Cox’s Bazar :The officer-in-charge of district Detective Branch of police has been closed to the DIG office and 10 policemen have been transferred to different districts for their suspected involvement in Yaba smuggling and human trafficking.The transferred policemen include nine sub-inspectors and an assistant sub-inspector of different police stations and DB.Of them, DB OC Dewan Abul Hossain has been closed to the Chittagong Range DIG office, while Billal Hossain alias Belal, suspended sub-inspector of Cox’s Bazar DB, has been transferred to Feni for their suspecting involvement in the smuggling of 6.80 lakh Yaba tablets that were seized in Feni recently.DB SIs Amirul Islam, Manirul Islam and Ekramul Islam have been transferred to Noakhali, Rangamati and Khagrachhari respectively while three sub-inspectors-Masburul, Kamal Hossain and Firoz Alam of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station-sent to Laxmipur, Chandpur and Khagrachhari respectively.Besides, Ukhiya thana SI Selim Chowdhury has been sent to Laxmipur while Kutubdia thana SI Kamal Hossain to Rangamati and Teknaf thana ASI Selim Uddin to Laxmipur.Superintendent of Cox’s Bazar Police Shyamal Kumar Nath confirmed the transfer.  Meanwhile, Chittagong Range DIG Shafiqul Islam described the transfer as part of regular activities of the police administration.Earlier, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 6.50 lakh Yaba tablets from a car and arrested two people, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Special Branch (SB) of police, in Lalpur area of Feni district early Sunday. The arrestees were identified as Mahfuzur Rahman, an assistant sub-inspector of SB and his driver Zabed Ali.
