The day-long Independence Day Wrestling competition will be held today at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the city. A total of 150 players from twenty teams featuring Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and different clubs – ten of men and ten of women teams – will take part in the twenty weight categories of the meet, sponsored by RDDL and organised by Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation (BAWF). BGB in men’s section and Bangladesh Ansar in women’s section are the defending champions of the competition. This time the champions and runners-up teams will be given trophy and medal.
In this regards, a press conference was held on Saturday at conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium to provide all the details of the meet.
Competition sponsor RDDL chairman Dr Kazi Arteja Hasan CIP, BAWF general secretary Tabiur Rahman Palowan, BAWF joint secretary Mesbah Uddin, were among others, present on the occasion.
