A day-long workshop on “Orientation University of Dhaka to Self Assessment Programme” was held yesteday at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university. Institution Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dhaka University (DU) organized the programme. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest, says a press release.
Director of IQAC Prof Dr Sheikh Shamimul Alam presided over inaugural session while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmed and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman addressed it as special guests. Additional Director of IQAC Prof Dr Rahmat Ullah delivered welcome speech while Additional Director Prof Dr Mahbub Ahsan Khan gave vote of thanks.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique stressed the need for achieving culture of excellence at Dhaka University. He said, we have to produce global standard graduates at the university. He urged the teachers to reach the highest level of quality through self assessment. The VC said, some students of different private universities are involved with terrorism, extremism and killings due to lack of humanitarian values. Such types of graduates never bring benefit for the nation. Therefore, teachers must work for development of human quality of students, he pointed out.
It may be mentioned that a total of 100 teachers from various departments and institutes of Dhaka University participated in the workshop.
