Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi division, at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country”, said a met office bulletin issued on Thursday.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to Northwest Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate elsewhere over North Bay.
Country’s maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded by 35.5 degree Celsius at Sayedpur and minimum temperature on Thursday was recorded by 23.8 degree Celsius at Nikli.
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am on Thursday was recorded by 14 millimeters (mm) at Bogura.
