Sailing on merger and data, mobile phone operator Robi has witnessed 5 percent revenue growth in the fourth quarter (Q4) of last financial year ended on December 31.
Despite the challenges, the operator has bagged 19.5 percent subscriber growth in Year-on-Year (YoY) reaching the customers’ tally to 33.8 million that pushed it to the second position in the market.
While announcing the financial statement of Q4 on Thursday, the operator has also claimed that it has completed the merger of airtel, according to an official release.
“We have successfully completed the final phase of merger with Airtel in Q4,” said Robi Managing Director and CEO Mahtab Uddin Ahmed.
He said: “The merger will ensure enhanced value for consumers and benefit the entire industry.”
On Quarter-on-Quarter (QoQ), revenue growth registered 5 percent to BDT 14.6 billion amidst intense price competition. However, EBITDA margin is lower by 19.5 percentage point mainly for one-off merger related fees and charges.
During the FY16, total revenue grew by 0.5 percent compared to the last year while data revenue had registered encouraging growth of 38.9 percent.
Data revenue growth was propelled by significant investments in network coupled with innovative affordable data offerings to drive 3.5G and 2.5G data usage.
Mahtab said: “We are now creating the number one network which will deliver the widest mobile network coverage and superior mobile services experience to our subscribers.”
