A daring dacoity was committed in the house of Sudahnsu Sarkar (60), a former tax collector of Mongla Port Pourashava in the district on Friday a night. .
Locals said that at the night at 11 am a gang of armed dacoits, 7/8 in number, raided the house at Zia Road of the Pourashava and entered it by breaking open its window.
Then the dacoits began to chop the house owner with sharp knives and at one stage they cut off one of the glands of Sudhangu’s tentacle and took it away. As a result, he was fatally injured. He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital for his treatment.
Md. Belauyet Hossain, Officer-in-charge of Mongla PS disclosed to the newsmen, the dacoits stayed in the house for long 5 hours and they looted only Taka.4 lakh in cash. So, it is guessed that the dacoity was committed out of previous enmity with the house owner or dispute over land properties with him. In this connection a case was registered with Mongla PS.
