Sports Reporter :
Spin Bowling Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Daniel Vettori depends on dashing opener Tamim Iqbal & spin bowlers of Bangladesh against New Zealand in the three-match ODI series.
Daniel Vettori said, ” Not only pacers but also spinners can play key role to win an ODI match. Spinners of New Zealand took a vital role against Australia in the recently concluded ODI series.”
It may be mentioned that world-class spinner Shakib Al Hasan will not take part in the upcoming ODI series. He has been granted a paternal leave by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). He is now staying with his pregnant wife in the United States of America.
So, Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the only experienced spinner in Bangladesh’s ODI squad. Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan have not yet made their ODI debut.
Vettori said, ” Mehidy Hasan Miraz performed well against west Indies in the recently concluded West Indies series. There is a good possibility that Mahedi and Nasum will show a spectacular bowling performance. But Bangladesh batsmen have to be cautious about the spin attack of New Zealand.”
Meanwhile, Prolific opener Tamim Iqbal made his Test debut at Dunedin in the year of 2008. So, Tamim will easily adapt with the pitch of Dunedin, which venue will host the first ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand on March 20. Vettori thinks if Tamim can face the challenge of the wickets of New Zealand, Bangladesh will earn a positive result.
Tamim have an experience to play five bilateral series between Bangladesh and New Zealand, One ICC World Cup Cricket and domestic cricket competitions in New Zealand from the year of 2008 to 2011.
