Like other countries from 2002 in Bangladesh, International Dance Day is being observed. Basically with the interest of former general secretary of Bangladesh Dance Artistes’ Association Saju Ahmed International Dance Day is being marked. As a part of its continuation, every year Dance Festival is arranged with amid festivity at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) from 2003.
Dance artiste and Instructor of BSA Deepa Khondaker told this correspondent, “Like previous years we are getting huge responses from the participants. In fact, despite having many barriers including financial constraints we can come together under a common platform, it is our achievement.”
Executive committee member of International Dance Day 2017 Saju Ahmed said, “This year festival one thing has attracted me that is infant also came to the festival, while many children enjoyed performing on the stage by own ways. It is really an inspiration. One day after getting matured some of them will perform as dance artistes, I believe.”
Cultural Secretary of Bangladesh Dance Artistes Association Nilufar Wahid Papri told this correspondent, “This year more than 50 groups attended the festival. It is really our great success to bring three to four years old children to old age persons in the festival. This year’s festival has become a successful one. Today is the closing day of the festival.”
It is noted that the eight-day festival begin on April 23. On the concluding day (April 29), a Mongal Nrittya will be held at 8:30am and later a rally will be brought out. At 11:00am, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP will be present as the chief guest at the seminar and noted litterateur Syed Monzurul Islam will be present as special guest on the occasion. The last day’s programme will end at 10:00pm, Papri also said.
