The roads at Dakshin Surma Upazila of the district have become totally unsuitable for vehicular movement for the last two years. As a result, around four lakh people using the roads are experiencing hazards daily.
According to field sources, the roads on Sylhet Sultanpur, Mogla Bazaar-Doudpur, Satmail-Foridpur, Nazir Bazaar- Jafrabad, has remained deplorable for the last five years due to lack of repair. As a result, small and big potholes are created on the roads causing traffic jams daily.
Some school- and college-going students and their guardians of the areas said the roads need to be repaired soon to ensure normal movement of the commuters.
Dakshin Surma Upazila Engineer said due to lack of necessary fund, the roads could not be repaired.
