Bangladesh witnessed the daily Covid-19 test positivity rate above 10 percent mark for the second consecutive day.
The latest figures showed an infection rate of 10.04 percent in the last 24 hours till Friday morning, data of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) showed it.
The DGHS on Thursday registered the highest daily transmission rate in the last three months, as 10.45 percent of the test positivity.
On Tuesday and Wednesday the daily infection rate was found 8.29 pc and 7.68 pc respectively.
On Monday, the infection rate registered 9.48 percent, which was the highest since December 21 last year, when the positivity rate was 9.38 pc.
As per the DGHS data, total of 1,899 new caseload were registered from 18,917 samples tested in the last 24 hours till Friday morning at 219 authorized laboratories across the country.
Meanwhile, 18 people have died across the country from the deadly disease, taking the toll of the fatalities to 8,642 nationwide.
The overall infection rate in the country stands at 12.98 pc from 4,368,111 tests that have been conducted so far.
The total number of identified cases in the country stands at 566,838.
Besides, a total of 1,618 covid patients have recovered from the infection across the country, taking the total number of recovered cases to 519,141.
The country’s recovery rate now stands at 91.59 pc the data showed.
It produced the new deaths of 11 males
and seven females of which 13 from Dhaka, three from Chattogram, and one each from Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions.
Among the deceased, 16 persons died at different hospitals while two died at home.
Among them, 6,532 males and 2,110 females (24.42 pc) have died from Covid-19 across the country.
The mortality rate is against the total number of cases detected in the country stands at 1.52 pc so far.
Bangladesh has reported its first cases of covid infection locally on March 8 last year.
