Sunamganj Correspondent :
Three people have been put on a three-day remand over the gruesome murder of Tuhin Hasan, 5, in Derai upazila of Sunamganj.
Sunamganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Shyam Kanto Sinha passed the order on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Tuhin’s mother Monira Begum filed a case in this connection with the Sunamganj Senior Judicial Magistrate.
The three accused in remand are, Tuhin’s father Abdul Basir, and his two siblings Abdul Mosabbir and Jamshed Ali.
Earlier, Tuhin’s uncle Nasiruddin and cousin Shahriar gave confessional statements in Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Khaled Miah’s court, regarding their involvements in the murder.
On Sunday, Tuhin’s father Abdul Basir found the boy’s mutilated body covered in blood around 3:00am, which was later recovered by the police in the morning.
The murderers left the child’s body hanging from a tree near the family’s house, after stabbing him, slitting his throat, and cutting off his ears and genitals. The killers also left two knives they had used to kill him, jammed in his abdomen.
Later in the afternoon, police detained seven of Tuhin’s family members-his father Abdul Basir, his uncles Mowlana Abdul Mosabbir, Jomshed Mia, Nasir and Zakirul, his aunt Khoyrun Begum and cousin Tania-for questioning.
At a press conference on Monday, the district’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Mizanur Rahman said that they found the involvement of several family members in the murder.
He, however, declined to disclose the details for the sake of the investigation.
The news of the murder and photos of Tuhin’s body soon went viral on social media, drawing condemnation from various quarters.
Many also questioned the sanity and humanity of those who killed the five-year-old boy in such a heinous manner, and demanded immediate arrest and the maximum punishment for them.
