Unidentified dacoits killed two security guards who were trying to resist robbery in three shops at Lakkhankhola Madrasa Market under Narayanganj Bandar early Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Raihan Uddin, 65, son of Abdus Samad, a resident of Lakhankhola, and Motaleb Miah, 55, son of Habib Mia, from
Chourapara area. “A gang of unidentified robbers broke opened the locks of Bismillah Battery Store, Satata Battery Mela, and Satata Battery Service Center belonging to Amir Hossain, Alamgir Hossain and Ainal Haque respectively at about 3:30am and looted Tk 27 lakh in cash, batteries and other goods in kinds,” said Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahin Mandal.
They hit the security guards with bricks when they (guards) tried to resist the robbery, leaving Raihan dead on the spot and Motaleb seriously injured, said the OC Shahin Mandal.
Motaleb was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the police official said.
About Tk 27 lakh were looted from three stores of the market, he said quoting the shop owners.
We are investigating the robbery incident, he said.
The bodies had been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital, the OC said.
