Jessore Correspondent :An alleged dacoit was killed in a “gunfight” with police at Begaritola under Monirampur upazila in Jessore district in the small hours of Tuesday.The victim was identified as Mahbur Rahman, 35, son of Motaleb Sardar from Shaymnagar village.Three police officers, including Additional Superintendent of Police KM Ariful Haque, received bullet injuries in the “gunfight”. Police recovered a revolver and six rounds of bullets from the spot.Assistant Superintendent of Police Reshma Sharmin said that a police team was patrolling on the Monirampur-Keshabpur road on Monday night. “Robbers hurled crude bombs at the police team when they were stopped there after noticing a tree lying down on the road,” she said.Police fired nine rounds of bullets that left one of the robbers injured. However, other robbers managed to flee the scene.
