The authorities of Chittagong District Administration in co-operation with Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) staged an anti-militancy bicycle rally with a call for resisting militancy and creating awareness against them. City Mayor A J M Nasir Uddin inaugurated the rally at Gymnasium premises, beside Chittagong M A Aziz stadium at 9 am on Friday .
Hundreds of youths, students, of different schools and colleges took part the rally and staged demonstrations to resist the menace. The rally started from Gymnasium premises and concluded at the same venue after parading different important streets.
Addressing the anti-militancy demonstration, A J M Nasir Uddin said militancy must be rooted out from the country with all strength for protecting the existence of independent and sovereign of our beloved country. He said Bangladesh is a secular country and there is no room for militants. “Militants have no religion and those who are killing people in the name of Islam are not only defaming the religion Islam but also damaging image of the country”, Nasir said.
DC of Chittagong Mezbah Uddin presided over the function while advocate Abul Hashem, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries director Wahid Serij Swpan, councilor Giash Uddin were among others addressed the function. Mezbahuddin said militancy must be root out from the country, a collective war should be waged with patriotism against it.
