Cyber accused Haq, Aminur sent to jail

Two cyber accused, Abdul Haq and Aminur Rahman, were sent to Sylhet central jail after ending their police remand here yesterday.
Police produced them before the metropolitan magistrate Mamunur Rahman Siddiqi court after ending their remand in a case filed over issuance of death threat to Law Minister Anisul Haq and the court sent them to jail.
Investigation officer of the case inspector Shibendrachandra Das produced the duo before the court with a plea for three-day remand on January 11.
The investigation officer told the news agency the accused confessed about their involvement in issuing of death threats to 153 eminent citizens in last couple of years.
Eminent citizens, including finance minister AMA Muhith, agriculture minister Motia Chowdhury, former law minister Shafique Ahmed, Prof Anisuzzaman, Prof Zafar Ikbal, Prof Muntasir Mamun, journalist Mizanur Rahman Khan and journalist Shahriar Kabir, received death threats.
Abdul Haque was arrested on November 24 while Aminur Rahman arrested a day after the arrest of Haq.
