C`wealth nations urged to share ideas of dev in edn

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has participated in the 34th Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) held in Vancouver, BC, Canada from 15 to 16 June 2017.
The Meeting of Board of Governors concentrated on the orientation for the new Board Members as well as on the audit and performances of the committees and on the competitive risk strategies of the Commonwealth of Learning, said official release here on Saturday.
As a new member in the Board of Governors, Nahid briefed all other members on the recent developments in education sector in Bangladesh under the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He urged all the Commonwealth nations for sharing ideas of developments in education, particularly of skill development strategies.
The minister also advocated for founding a common standard of education among all the nations of the Commonwealth.
Besides the scheduled meetings, the minister took the opportunity to engage in discussions with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth Patricia Scotland.
She gladly appreciated rapid advancement of quality education in Bangladesh and sought an active role of Bangladesh as the new member of the Board of Governors.
Nahid expressed his willingness to do his best.
The Commonwealth of Learning is an international organization of the Commonwealth nations to create and widen access to opportunities for learning making use of the potentials offered by distance education and by the application of communication technologies to education.
Its activities strengthen member countries’ capabilities to develop the human resources.
