Chattogram WASA has undertaken water pipeline installation project in the city at a cost of Tk.2700 crores.
Under this project 11 kilometers pipeline will be installed . Concerned Project officials told The New Nation that after implementation of the pipeline project, cent percent areas of the city will come under CWASA.
Superintending Engineer of the project Engr. Md. Ariful Islam told that this pipeline project was taken to install new pipelines in Patenga, Halishahar, Bakalia, Kattali and to replace the old pipes of other areas .
He said Preliminary Development Project Proforma of the Project (PDPP) already sent to Planning Ministry in the meantime.
The project profile after approval by the planning ministry will be sent to Economic Relations Department for fund assistances from donor agencies.
A reliable CWASA sources said pipe lines in Patenga, Halishahar , Kattali, Bakalia areas yet to be installed and these areas are still deprived of supply water.
Dwellers of these areas where still deprived of CWASA water resented regularly in different local rallies and meetings etc. CWASA Managing Director Engr. AKM Fazlullah told that after installations of pipelines in these above mentioned areas, the dwellers will shortly get supply water.
