The employees and workers of Chittagong WASA confined the Managing Director Engr. AKM Fazlullah in office chamber for 3 hours demanding the cancellation of process for retrenching 117 employees of Class III and Class IV status.
The office siege of the Managing Director enforced from 10 am to 1 pm and following the assurances from Managing Director, the siege program withdrawn, a CWASA sources said.
About 100 workers assembled infront of the Managing Director’s office chamber at about 10 am yesterday and chanted slogans against the retrenchment and abolition of the posts.
Among others, President and General secretary Salahuddin Chowdhury and Tazul Islam respectively spoke in the siege program.
After 3 hours of confinement, CWASA chief talked with the trade union leaders and assured them not to abolish these posts .
Later, the workers joined their duties being assured by the Managing Director, sources said.
