Chttogram WASA claimed that there is any type of bacteria in the supply water. This was claimed at a press conference of CWASA held at Chattogram Press club hall yesterday.
Following the impact of water borne diseases in Halishahar and Agrabad area in the city, CWASA arranged the press meet .
The press meet was told that CWASA authority collected from the hydrants of Halishahar, Agraad, Rampura, Boubazar, Shantibagh, found no becteria in the supply water. But bacteria was detected in the water of overhead tank of a house of Saraipara under Pahartali thana (Taiyub Mansion) . WASA claims the water of overhead tank most probably mixed with the reserved tank leakage or uncleaned tank . The press meet was also told that unhygienic food may cause the impact of water borne diseases
The pressmen in the meet advised the WASA authority to form a number of monitoring team to watch the supply water in specific places. Among others, Deputy MD of CWASA Golam Hossain, Commercial Manager Dr.Pijush Dutta, Seceretary Shamim Sohel, chief eningeer Jahurul Hoque and other senior officials were present in the press meet.
