The CBA of Chittagong WASA authority – Ctg WASA Sramik Karmachari Union enforced gherao programs in CWASA office yesterday morning for about 4 hours protesting the withdrawal of suspension order of 11 officials and employees
Reliable sources said these officials were suspended for misappropriating the WASA fund of Tk.13 lakh through forging the bank slips.
The CBA officials enforced ghera program in main gate of the bhaban from 9 am with changing slogans against the WASA chairman and later they staged demonstration in front of the Chairman’s chamber .
Following the assurances of the chairman, the employees withdraws their gherao programme ,sources said.
WASA sources said the suspended officials are one Asstt. Engineer, one Sub -Asstt. Engineer, one overseer , 4 voucher drivers and 4 assistants. These officials were suspended for misappropriating the WASA money that earned for supply of waters through vouchers to different persons and organizations by water vouchers since long by issuing fake receipt.
While contacted, Chairman of WASA Engr. Fazlullah told this correspondent that these officials realized money from outside in the name of CWASA by using fake receipt and rubber stamp and according to preliminary probe committee’s report, these officials were suspended.
He further said another powerful probe committee will be formed immediately to investigate the matter with exemplary punishment to the involved in this misappropriation.
