The election of Chittagong University Teachers’ Association (CUTA) will be held on April 4. Election Commissioner Mohammad Mahiuddin assured of holding the election in due time.
Election Commission sources said, Awamili League and leftist backed Holud Dal (yellow panel) has taken the token against 11 posts while BNP and Zamat prone teachers’ association Sada Dal (white panel) has also nominated its aspirants for the posts. The total number of voter is 866, they added.
Professor Mohammad Abul Mansur, teacher of Microbiology Department was nominated by its yellow panel as the aspirants of President post where Soukutul Meher of Marketing Studies and International Marketing Department from white panel has taken the token of the same post.
Samol Ranjon Chakrabartee of Physic, Prof Mohammad Hanif Siddiki of Computer Science and Engineering and Mohammad Ohidul Alam from yellow panel are fighting for the post of vice-president, treasurer and joint secretary while Prof Abdul Mannan of Chemistry Department, Prof Safiqur Islam of Marine Science and Fisheries and Zakia Rehan of Anthropology from white panel are fighting for the above post respectively.
Mohammad Mahiuddin, Election Commissioner told The New Nation that all kind of preparations are being taken to hold the election peacefully.
