The consignment of 100 percent polyester yarn came with 9.8 kg of chemicals. Customs House Chittagong officials seized the consignment on the basis of secret information.
According to sources, the consignment arrived at the port in the name of PNR Industries Limited of Bhaluka Municipality, Mymensingh.
The importer’s declaration was 100 percent polyester yarn (HS code: 5402.33.00). The net weight of the consignment is 25 tons. Price 41 thousand 580 US dollars or Tk 35 lakh 64 thousand 981 . The C&F agent nominated by the importer submitted the bill of entry to Russell Garments Custom House in Agrabad, Chittagong on December 8 to unload the consignment.
Due to confidential information, the Custom House’s Audit Investigation and Research (AIR) branch appeared in front of the container during the evacuation and initially confirmed that the shipment contained chemicals instead of yarn.
The container was then re-sealed and locked in the National Board of Revenue’s Asaicuda World System.
Last December 9, in the presence of C&F representative, the container was kept down and 100% physical examination was done. So that 246 bags of chemical national products are available.
