A court in Chittagong convicted one customs officer Ayub Rana with 6 months imprisonment in a corruption case yesterday.
The verdict was announced yesterday by the divisional Judge SM Ataur Rahman . The court also fined Tk.2 thousand alongwith the imprisonment conviction. Court also granted bail to customs officer on condition of appealing before the high court being a Freedom Fighter. Special PP of Anti Corruption Commission Advocate Mahmudul Hoque told that court convicted him under section ACC Act section 26(2) but court granted him bail for his active participation in the Liberation War. Court sources said ACC Chittagong chapter filed this case before the court on August 4, 2009 for attaining resources out of his legal income. The alleged customs officer was present in the court while announcing the judgment in the case, sources said.
