Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department officials recovered contraband consignment worth about Tk.76 lakh from Customs house warehouse in the port city on Thursday.
Director General of CIID Dr.Shahidul Islam suspended the delivery of the consignment actingon secret information. CIID official sources said the total consignment underwent physical inventory in presence of C&F agent and goods beyond declaation was seized.
According to sources of CIID said the importer declared consignment of Tk.10 lakh with import duty of Tk.6 lakh .
After physical inventory of the consignment , the cost of the consignment as per tariff comes to Tk.30 lakh and import duty ascertained at Tk46 lakh i.e. total Tk.76 lakh.
Following the phyicial inventory of the consignment govt earned huge revenue of Tk.40 lakh, sources added.
